The following are regular activities and events we offer our students:
Off-Campus Activities
Each classroom teacher plans a variety of field trips to supplement instruction. Recent destinations include The Eagle’s Clubhouse, Eastern State Penitentiary, The Franklin Institute, The Philadelphia Museum of Art and The Annenberg Center.
Career Exploration Presentations
Recent presenters include representatives of the Anthem Institute, Empire Beauty School, The Art Institute of Philadelphia, The Automotive Training Center and Burlington County Community College.
Athletics
Tournament and team basketball, volleyball and pool give our students the opportunity to engage in competition and develop good sportsmanship. Our weight training room offers students the opportunity to meet personal fitness goals. Eligible students may participate in extra-curricular activities and team sports through their resident district programs.
Cultural Events/Observances
Observances of Chinese New Year, St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Constitution Day, Italian-American Day, Holocaust Remembrance Day, Women’s History Month and Black History Month provide opportunities to explore history and cultures and encourage students to celebrate diversity.
Battle of the Books
Students read classic and contemporary literary works and test their knowledge in classroom and school-wide “battles.”
Math Super Bowl
Classes compete in weekly math playoff activities, which culminate in a Super Bowl activity and celebration.
Spelling Bee
An annual academic event, students compete on classroom and school-wide levels.
Community Resource Activities
A wide variety of community resource activities have enhanced our program and enriched the lives of our students. These activities give students and staff opportunities to relate to one another through shared interests and experiences, which help form the positive relationships essential to effective behavior management. Recent highlights include the Tuckerton Seaport Museum Boat-Building Project, making “Casseroles for Camden” and presentations by the Buffalo Soldiers and Wharton State Forest.
Clementon Park Trip
Students and staff celebrate the end of the school year at Clementon Park and Splash World.
Picnic Day
A barbeque and picnic activities make this annual event a day of relaxation and fun.
Eighth Grade Promotion
Eighth grade promotion is celebrated with a commencement ceremony, followed by a buffet lunch.
Graduation
Seniors who have met their district’s requirements are invited to participate in a commencement ceremony, followed by a buffet dinner. Eligible students may participate in resident district ceremonies as well.
